Newbee....!

Newbee is a Lagoon 410 S2 Owner’s Version Catamaran, which means she is 41 feet in length and was designed specifically for long-term live aboard cruising.

Hull number 247 of only 283 built, she is the upgraded version of the original 410 model coming out of the legendary Jeanneau shipyard in Bordeaux, France.

Built in 2006 she comes from a time when boats were built ‘just right’, with solid materials and classic lines. She has been extensively updated and modernised by us and we are excited to show or even share her with you.

A fast and powerful, yet extremely comfortable blue water cruising yacht, Newbee spent the early years of her life in the Canaries before being sailed to the Norwegian Fjords near Trondheim.

Bought 'new to us' in 2022 we sailed her to her new home port of Lillesand, via a comprehensive refit in Oslo, before embarking on our Big Blue Adventure.

But Why New -

BEE….?

It’s not just a coincidence that we chose this spelling, it reflects 2 things:

When we decided to go for it and follow our dream we were both ‘Newbie’ catamaran sailors. Despite having many nautical miles experience between us, before we set out our plans for the Big Blue Adventure neither of us had ever sailed a catamaran!

Secondly, the BEE connection. We both love bees (and honey!) and we are aware of how much they are under pressure from human activity. There is still so much we do not know about the humble bee, but what we do know is that they are amazing! The human race simply cannot survive without them and we need to protect this incredible little superhero.

BEE FUN FACT!

Bees like humans!  Or more specifically, bees like the humans who take care of them.  Bees can detect human faces, which means they can recognise, and build trust with their human caretakers.

BEKIND!

Newbee Continued....

Being an Owner’s Version, she boasts 2 double bedrooms complete with family bathroom and shower on the Port side, with a third spacious double bedroom, dressing room, toilet/utility room, bathroom and separate shower room over on the Starboard side (the "Owner's" side).

Joining the accommodation spaces together, Newbee has a large connecting saloon which offers an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, complete with chart and navigation desk.

All areas within the saloon offer 360-degree panoramic views which make the catamaran such a popular choice for live-aboard luxury!

Outside, Newbee offers a large modern cockpit situated to the Port side of a spacious aft terrace and deck.  A full-size coach roof and detachable Bimini/awning enables us to dine, drink and relax outside in (almost) all weathers!

Forward of the saloon, Newbee has ample outside deck space from both skulls, with a large seating area in front of the saloon windows which all neatly frame the large trampoline – effectively a HUGE sunbathing hammock!

Of course, with all boats there are considerations – performance; space; comfort; speed; however, due to our planned route using the Tradewinds, we felt a catamaran was the right choice for us.

Famed for not ‘heeling over’ with the wind like monohulled yachts do, but generally not able point upwind to no more than 60 degrees, catamarans are best suited for downwind sailing, and the Lagoon is a very popular and sought-after model.

We feel very lucky to have her.  We just love the space and comfort Newbee has to offer and we couldn’t be happier with our choice!
